Rebels Without Applauze has been performing improvisational comedy all over New England and beyond since being founded in 2003. Rebels perform in Studio 40 shows on Friday and Saturday nights at ImprovBoston. We also perform at The New England Theatre Conference and Salem Theatre Company. We are a musically driven short form improv troupe with plans to expand to long form musicals in the coming year.

Defenders of the Funny (dotFunny to our friends) was conceived at the first Portland Improv Festival and born just a few months later, thanks to the short gestational period of improv groups. We’re based right here in Portland, and are proud to call Lucid Stage our home base.

From "Choose Your Own Adventure," which puts the audience in the driver's seat, to "Special Features," a look at movies, how they're made, and how we view them, we focus on creating compelling multi-layered narratives. We also make dick jokes, and we're slowly coming to terms with that.

Cast: Boom Scones battle against home town favorites Running with Scissors!
Laughletics is a competitive improv comedy show that plays like a sports match complete with fouls and a referee. Teams compete in improvised games in order to win laughs and applause from the audience. The teams will play both games that they choose and games that they are challenged to.

This show is a combination of storytelling, improv, confessional, and audience participation. The first 10 minutes is a monologue followed by a segment called "Ask Me Anything" during which the audience asks whatever is on their mind and gets an honest answer. The rest of the show is a series of polls, interviews, and on the spot questions that seeks to answer the question: Why are we so fucked up about love?

The Focus Group
Since forming in 2009, The Focus Group has entertained audiences throughout the state of Maine with long-form, character-based improvisation. Using the techniques developed by Del Close in Chicago and with a troupe of performers with extensive acting resumes, The Focus Group has created a unique form of theater.

have expanded the team with the addition of im Bissell, Sam Kuykendall, Dennis Price, Jason Preble, and Anthony Severance. Teachers Lounge Mafia
Teachers Lounge Mafia hopes to bring a their particular brand of improv comedy to the western Maine foothills and still be allowed to live there. Since forming in 2008, the group has performed throughout Maine and New England, appearing at the Boston Improv Comedy Festival, ImprovBoston, and the Franklin County Literacy Volunteers Monthly Potluck Dinner. Its members have studied at ImprovBoston, UCB New York, and CamProv in New Hampshire. This is their third in what they hope to be just a ridiculously long series of performances at the Portland Improv Festival.
